“Joel has a caring personality that is the cornerstone for the individualized way he works with each client. He takes the time to fully understand his clients and to help them make the right choices. I have referred several people to Joel, because I know that he will be very effective in working with them in an advisory role. Joel is a unique individual who truly places his clients first.” -

Most franchisors stay the course when it comes to searching for new franchisees, and even new franchise locations. They open new franchises in, or at least close to, major population centers. Personally, I've received inquiries from people who live in small tows, and even rural areas, who've wanted to explore franchise ownership ideas with me. (Not a lot of inquiries, but a few)
When I've asked franchisors to take a look at those small areas, the answer I get, nine out of ten times is something like, "Joel, there's just not enough population to support a franchise location in Blue Ridge Manor, Kentucky, but thank you for thinking of us."
Usually, when I'm asked what the hottest franchises are, I get lightheaded and start sweating profusely. (I guess I get hot, myself) It's not that I don't know what's hot. It's just a tough question. My Dad always taught me that it doesn't really matter what I like in a franchise. What matters is this;
What is the right franchise for the person I'm trying to help. That's it.
But still, it's really hard to not like certain individual concepts, or certain franchise categories, for whatever reason. During a recent Fox Business Live Video-Interview, Tracy Byrnes asked me what the hottest franchise is for 2010. I ended up giving her my answer, but you'll have to watch the interview to find out what's hot...
