The Quiznos Lawsuit Settlement Number; It's Only $206 Million!!!

Quiznos business policies have been the target of angry (to put it mildly) franchisees for years, now. Being a franchise industry insider has it's perks when it comes to juicy stories like this, and I've known the real deal about this franchise company for a long time.

Inside the industry, there are certain franchise organizations that are known to have a less than stellar reputation. 

The International Franchise Association (supposedly, the self-governing arm of our industry) knows the real deal, about the franchisors that are.. shall we say...suspect, but they still gladly accept membership checks from any franchisor that is registered in the USA. 

(I'm a proud, non-IFA member, by the way.)

Franchise Fight; Paranoid Canadian Franchise Attorney Lobs Lame Attack On US Franchise Consultant

Cleveland, Ohio--- Canadian franchise attorney, Michael Webster, (a writer for the franchise-bashing website, BlueMauMau) launched an almost blistering attack on a post about researching a franchise, that Cleveland, Ohio franchise consultant Joel Libava wrote in 2007. Libava says it's time for "a franchise fight..."

As I was checking my Google reader this morning, I came across a rather interesting post that got me a little riled up. In it, Michael Webster, a franchise attorney in Canada, slammed one of my franchise research tips......for no apparent reason.

Please keep reading this, as it's not really about me-it's about certain people in my industry that try to create problems that aren't even there...and would-be franchise owners getting talked out of their dreams before they get far enough to make their own decisions..

Do you know about the huge franchise lawsuit that will start getting some traction next week? (Mail Boxes Etc. Franchisees Vs. The UPS Store)

There are still plenty of very angry ex-franchisees of Mail Boxes Etc. They're not going away, either.

According to a story just published over at BlueMauMau;

"The problem started all the way back in 2001, when United Parcel Service purchased the franchising firm of a 3,400-store chain, Mail Boxes Etc. According to Spanier, UPS executives informed all MBE franchisees in 2002 that the old business model was broken. UPS tested a new business model. Soon Mail Boxes Etc.’s brand was renamed The UPS Store and the business was changed to include parcel delivery." Read more

I remember when it happened. I had just joined my Dad's franchise consulting firm, and he told me about it.

Sometimes, franchisees really have no control over things. How would you like it if you were a franchisee of Mail Boxes Etc., and you were just told that you had to change the look of your store to match the colors of the company that just bought out your brand?

(And have to spend $25,000 of your own money to do so!)

Buying A Franchise; It's The System

Most of the folks that I consult with in their quest for the best franchise business opportunity to invest in, are looking at franchising for one reason; There is already a "system" in place.
