Before you enter the world of Green franchising in Houston, Texas {Where everything is big}, I suggest you take out your big wallet. According to a future Texas franchisee, who is attempting to open a green franchise that I have discussed way too much on this blog,
Chris Toman says that it’s cost the other franchisees between $2,000 and
$14,000 to get their roughly 2,500 square-foot restaurants certified.
But not in Houston. Here, Toman says, consultants who process LEED
certifications want around $40,000 to do the job.
“It’s
like I’m being punished for trying to do something good,” says Toman.
“I’ve talked to pretty much every company I can find. I’ve gotten
quotes from people and they’re all like, ‘Yeah, it’s forty-grand.’ It’s
ridiculous.”
