The further I get into this internet thing, the more I learn about the who's who of Web 2.0.
In Cleveland, we happen to have a who..Jim Kukral. Here is an interview with Jim, and his new project...
Hi Jim! I met you online several months back, and am a part of your AwesomeMillion website. I also met you in person at a marketing event that featured John Jantsch, of Duct Tape Marketing fame.
1. Jim, when did you start getting interested in the internet?
>>> In 1995 I had two job interviews.
One for a traditional ad agency in Akron, OH who wanted to hire me to do desktop
publishing stuff. The other interview was for a company called Mozes Cleveland
& company, a "new media" startup with 3 people. I decided to try the "new"
job. My first day at work they gave me an HTML book and said learn this. I had
never even really surfed the web before. I made the right choice looking back
:)
2 When you decided to be an internet marketer full time, did
your family think you were a tad nuts?
>>> No, because the day I decided to
do it was after many months of bringing home extra checks from my efforts. They
thought I was nuts to keep my full time job, and to stay up half the night still
working on my other stuff.
3. I have read that you own, or have
owned 100 websites. What do you do with them?
>>> I own close to 200 domain names,
with about 70 active. Most are just frivolous stuff like www.makefunneraword.com or www.bigbrownbox.com. Then there are my
affiliate niche sites or landing pages. But mostly, I have a couple of bigger
main projects like www.scratchback.com
that really rule the server I own. But make no mistake, almost every website
earns money, even if it's only $5/month.4. You seem to have new
ideas constantly, but the one that is starting to generate buzz in the internet
marketing world is something you are calling
Scratchback. What exactly IS
Scratchback?
>>> It's a publishing system that
takes a unique approach to helping anyone with a website or blog have fun, and
also maybe earn a buck. We're looking for more beta applications, so come to the
site and sign up.5. When will
Scratchback be live?
>>> Beta users will begin testing
sometime in August.
6. What advice would you give would be
internet marketers?
>>> Get creative. Even the most hard
to tackle niches can be conquered with creativity and a unique marketing
message. Try something new. Do video... today!
7. What is the most
promising technology that we will be seeing and experiencing in the next year or
two?
>>> I'm going to say that mobile
video will be the next huge thing. Imagine being able to watch a movie on your
phone, or to send a live, streaming video of your kids to grandma's phone 1,000
miles a way? Every phone in the coming years will be like a little video camera.
Jim Kukral. Think he "gets it"?
Jim,
I love helping fellow Cleveland small business owners!
